Three-day meeting of G7 interior and security ministers at Kloster Eberbach in Hesse, Germany.

The final discussions focused on combating child sexual abuse and human trafficking. These two issues are particularly important to Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser: “We want to cooperate closely to crack down on such crimes”, said Nancy Faeser.

Internal security, counter-terrorism, hybrid threats

The focus of the meeting was on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and its impacts on internal security.

Other issues discussed at the G7 conference included:

  • Economic security as a component of national security
  • Combating violent extremists and terrorists
  • Protection against hybrid threats and foreign disinformation campaign

“We all have the same goal: We want to defend the fundamental values of our free democracies”, said the Federal Minister of the Interior. Faeser emphasised how the aim was not simply to strengthen cooperation between the G7 countries, but to also take concrete decisions. “All of these issues require joint, resolute action.”

In addition to her counterparts of the G7 countries, Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser invited Ylva Johannson, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, and representatives of other international bodies and organisations to the conference in Hesse, Germany.
