Ukrainian visit to reaffirm solidarity

The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament sincerely thanked Denmark for supporting Ukraine in times of dire need.

Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine was one of the topics discussed when the Leader of the Ukrainian Parliament, Mr. Ruslan Stefanchuk, visited the Danish Parliament on Friday morning, as part of his official visit to Denmark.

He was received in the imposing ‘Samtaleværelse’ (audience chamber) by the Parliamentary Praesidium, along with the Chair of the the Foreign Policy Committee, Mr. Michael Aastrup Jensen, and Chair of the European Committee, Mr. Niels Flemming Hansen.

“The visit will help strengthen the bond between Denmark and Ukraine. Denmark supports Ukraine politically, financially and militarily, but we also discussed how we can continue to help the country when the war is over. That includes, for example, preparing Ukraine for EU membership, strengthening the collaboration between our two parliaments and rebuilding the country, for which Denmark has taken on special responsibility for rebuilding the city of Mykolaiv”, says the Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Mr. Søren Gade.

Mr. Stefanchuk thanked Denmark warmly for its support, a message repeated in his personal entry in Parliament’s guest book. He wrote that Ukraine appreciates Denmark’s solidarity with Ukraine during the difficult times the country finds itself in.

This is the first time the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament has visited Denmark. The visit is part of an official tour, which will include Norway and Sweden.

After visiting Parliament, he went on to an audience with HM Queen Margrethe at Fredensborg Castle.

He is scheduled to visit Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød and Ukraine House on Saturday. The latter is the Ukrainian cultural centre in Copenhagen.
