France welcomes the decisions taken by the ECOWAS heads of State, who have asked for an immediate return to the constitutional order in Niger under President Mohamed Bazoum, elected by Niger’s people. It supports the economic and financial sanctions decided on in support of these calls.
France calls for an end to the unacceptable violence seen today.
It recalls the obligations incumbent on everyone with regard to the protection of diplomatic premises and staff and of foreign residents. Measures have been taken today to step up our embassy’s security.
