France is deeply saddened following the sinking of a boat off Greece, resulting in the deaths of several dozen people. It extends its condolences to the bereaved and assures the Greek authorities of its support; their rescue operations have already saved around 100 people.
France is determined to continue, with a sense of responsibility and solidarity, the work begun with its European partners on migration issues. This tragedy recalls the importance of cooperation between Europeans and with third countries, as regards sea rescues and the fight against trafficking networks.
