Baerbock promotes UN resolution on Ukraine

Berlin (dpa) – Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has canvassed support for a United Nations resolution tabled by more than 50 states that calls for an end to the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine. “The peace plan is on the table in New York, it is the United Nations Charta,” she said before her flight departed for a meeting of the UN General Assembly to mark the anniversary of the Russian invasion. Baerbock will be speaking to the General Assembly there. In advance, she described a halt to Russian attacks, protection of the civilian population, respect for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and accountability for the crimes committed as part of a peace plan.

On Vladimir Putin’s orders, the Russian army had invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022.
