France welcomes the return of the United States to UNESCO, under the conditions approved today by the organization’s Member States. This return is very important for UNESCO and its goal of “building peace in the minds of men and women”. In this way, UNESCO’s universal role and its resources are strengthened.
France pays tribute to the personal commitment of the Director-General, Mme Audrey Azoulay, and all the Member States which contributed to this decision by today’s Extraordinary General Conference. France looks forward to the prospect of working again with the United States and all its partners.
