Sunshine and celebration at Citizenship Day 2018

Laughter and smiles dominated the tent when the Danish Parliament held the annual Citizenship Day on Sunday 22 April. People gathered and listened to speeches, violin music and a concert medley and enjoyed a beautiful ballet performance as well.

Spirits were high in the huge tent in front of Christiansborg Palace, when the Danish Parliament for the thirteenth time held Citizenship Day. The Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Pia Kjærsgaard, opened the festivities by giving a speech congratulating the new citizens on their citizenship and explaining the importance of democracy. After the speech, various entertainers went on the stage and performed. When the music and theater was over, the many visitors entered Christiansborg Palace and experienced the Danish Parliament from the inside.
