Visit from the President of the Norwegian Storting

On January 23, the President of the Norwegian parliament, the Storting, Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen, visited the Danish Parliament.

The visit was part of an old tradition, where the Danish Parliament invites new presidents of the Nordic parliaments on an official visit. It is a good way to maintain the close relationships between the Nordic parliaments. Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen became the President of the Storting in November 2018.

The Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Pia Kjærsgaard (DF), gave a speech in which she highlighted the importance of the close relations between the Folketing and the Storting.
“We share culture, history, values, language and humor, and have a unique friendship that stretches back thousands of years,” she said.

As is tradition, Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen wrote in the guestbook of the Danish Parliament. Here she acknowledged the fact that the Danish and Norwegian parliaments are able to learn from each other and exchange experiences.
