Morocco earthquake (September 9, 2023)

France was greatly shocked to learn of the dreadful 6.8-magnitude earthquake between Marrakesh and Agadir which occurred during the night, killing and injuring hundreds of people. France extends its sincere condolences to their families and close friends.

Our embassy in Morocco and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ Crisis and Support Centre in Paris have set up crisis units (in Morocco: +212 537689900; in France: +33 (0)1 43 17 51 00) to answer our compatriots’ requests for information and assistance.

France stands foursquare behind the Moroccan authorities and people in this ordeal and is ready to provide immediate aid, for rescuing and assisting the people affected by this tragedy.
